Answer for Long Pimples

Hi Roger,

It’s a good question you’ve brought up there. In this situation when players aren’t giving you the higher ball to attack and actually end up putting you under pressure it’s important to vary the placement of the push so it’s more unexpected and harder for your opponent to attack with the pimples, so on this occasion playing the push more to the middle and forehand side.

Also changing the speed of the push, sometimes playing a very soft push or touch just over the net is hard for pimple players to then attack and generate speed. In addition if this player is still able to play the shot and put you under pressure you’ll need to look at your topspin placement when you attack, try to aim right into the body or elbow and you may have to be prepared to topspin a few balls before pushing in order to make it more difficult for him.

Give those a go next time you play him!
