Answer for Advice for my gameplay

Hi Jeffrery,

No problem about the videos, I’ve had a look at both of them and thinking about the points you mentioned in both your comments. So firstly the banana flick that you talked about, I this the 2 examples on the video you did this shot very well, it’s just important to keep the spin and make you you stay low to the table and recover well when using this shot, looks like it’s going well though!

As for the counter loop shots, it’s ll about using the other persons speed. So try to keep a brushing contact as you would when spinning the ball, this gives you control,as well as keep the shot short and not taking the ball to far away (Waiting for the right timing when the ball is just slightly in front of your body) Also think about keeping balanced with your body weight forward to help you control the spin coming at you. Now for the forehand flicks when you get the ball popped up high after a no spin serve, you need to keep your head and body nice and low when coming in for the shot, also think about having a short and quick contact on the ball and transferring the energy of the bat to point and finish where you want the ball to go.

On the second video where you said you struggled more and found the returns harder, (first off the point where he stands on the ball was funny!) Against him when returning his serves try to slow yourself down and take some speed off, a lot of the serves miss just from being slightly rushed, so focus on slow spin and giving yourself time. Actually forehand open up is a very good shot and you won a lot of points using it, so against just try to remember not to rush, keep the spin on it and your body forward as sometimes you lift up. This will make it even more consistent because its a good shot you have there!

A very good tactic against this player would be using a long push return or serving long and low backspin to his backhand side, he often pushes back giving you a chance to attack first with your forehand spin. As well as this if you can lay early in the rally wide to his forehand side he struggles to move well there so give that a try as well! I hope that’s plenty for you to take away and think about Jeffrey, give those tips and tactics a try and anything else feel free to gt in touch again.
