Coach CornerTechniquesforehand-topsping-followup-after-open-up
Ariel94 asked 6 years ago

Hi guys I am really struggling with the follow up after the open up. When my opponent serves backspin or push the ball I lift the ball with no problem. However, when he blocks back the ball it usually comes high and I cant topspin it. I feel that I raise the elbow to be able to hit it and I know that is wrong. If the ball comes low I can topspin it but If it comes at my shoulder level I start having problems. They ball goes off the table or I miss the shot. Make a video please

Hey Ariel94,

We actually do have a video which focuses on the shot, the 5th ball attack after you’ve played your first topspin against a push. So definitely have a look at that here- https://tabletennisdailyacademy.com/videos/fifth-ball-attack/

This video will give lots of helpful tips on this shot. The main thing is getting the bat higher and above the ball with a closed angle on the second shot. Have a look and any questions or extra help you need just reply back in here and I’ll get back to you 🙂
