Yes thats true, Ok so I don’t think anyone really watches the ball all the way onto their bat and the opponents bat either, its all about judgement and watching until you are fully confident to make the correct contact and timing.
Once you’ve done this you can use the spare time to pick up signs from the opposition and their bat etc, I think that is key for improvement to be able to not only watch the ball but to pick up information on your opponent and their position and the possible next shot, if you are only watching the ball you will miss this vital information and it will make your shot selection more difficult.
