Equipment question
Hi,
Have you guys tried Dhs w968 blade. Its supposed to be a national version of dhs long 5. Is this true or are these just rumours? You guys are friends with pro players so i guess it would be best to ask you guys :-).
Thanks.
Hey singhpong, unfortunately we haven’t tried it but from what I’ve heard and understand they are pretty similar blades all in all.
I think the w968 is slightly less stiff and with a touch less of a carbon feeling,im not sure it’s necessarily a national version on the long 5 but a slightly different feel and some say a higher quality production. However I don’t think many players apart from the top professional players would feel a huge difference between the 2. Of course I haven’t actually tried both so that would give me a much better idea. Just working off what I’ve heard 🙂
Hi Tom,
Thanks a lot for your reply. Makes a lot of sense. Even I have heard that people say that they are similar but the quality is very good. How does higher quality make a difference? I mean is the shot quality better with good quality blades or is it the durability?
No problem, it will be a bit of both to be honest. The blade will be more durable and also feel slightly different. Maybe not enough to make a difference to the average player but for professional players it can be enough to be important.
Hi Tom,
Thanks for you reply again. Sorry for disturbing you a lot today :-). I just have one more question. Do inner carbon limba ply blades like harimoto alc, innerforce and long 5 etc. provide the best balance of speed and control? They feel like wood blades on soft touches and the carbon kicks in when we hit hard. Is that true? So are they a perfect balance between wood and carbon blades? Moreover, are these inner carbon limba ply blades perfect for looping as they provide lots of dwell and feeling? Thanks
Hey, not a problem at all 🙂 yes I would tend to agree with what you said you gain more control from these types of blades as they have more feeling and a touch less speed because the carbon is deeper in the blade. They are good for looping too because they are still quick but have more control and dwell than other carbon blades. I personally use a wood blade but if I switch to carbon I would go for an inner carbon limba ply type blade ?
Thanks a lot Tom. I am using Andro RasANTER R53 rubber right now and i love it. Have you tried it? Moreover, I use your review on D05,80. Is the grip of those rubbers just way more than any other rubber on the market?
Yeah we reviewed the R53 a couple of weeks ago and I liked it as well! I would say the dignics is definitely one of the top rubbers for grip, of course you have hurricane which has extremely high grip and is also tacky to. R53 is a good rubber though and works well in the modern game.
Is the R53 review going to be posted soon? How would you compare both R53 and dignics 05 and 80? Are they very similar?
We’ll try to post that as soon as possible in the new year, I’d say they are all quite similar but R53 and dignics 80 are closer because of the sponge hardness. I liked both rubbers to be honest, if anything the R53 may be a touch quicker and the dignics 05 and 80 a little more stable and controlled.

Is there any benefit of boosting rubbers like R53 with just one layer of booster after about a months use? I have heard light boosting helps in more spin, more speed and even more control and feeling.
I think i will stick with my R53 then and i dont think there is any need to spend lot of money on dignics then :-). Thanks a lot Tom for helping me saving a few bucks. Really appreciate your time and responses.
No problem at all that’s what we’re here for. I wouldn’t bother boosting the R53 to be honest, even after a month with just a light amount of boost I don’t feel there would be much benefit to it. I think you’re right stick to the R53 especially as you are really enjoying it! Have a good Christmas and New year!
Perfect. So helpful brother.Happy Holidays 🙂
