Hi Mick,
So with the right foot I can see you’ve definitely tried to keep it behind and the left in front more, which when starting the rally you are doing well. The problem usually comes when you step into the table to return serve or push the ball your right foot doesn’t come back behind after you’ve played the shot, so often the next shot is a bit arkward for you.
The other main thing I would say will really help your consistency is the way you contact the ball. If you can get a softer contact on the ball you will gain a lot of control, quite often your strokes a re a bit quick or rushed slightly,if you can slow yourself down and really try to focus on getting a soft and lighter contact on the ball and really go for spin over speed I think you’ll see big improvements.
To do this try to wait for the ball a bit longer and keep a relaxed arm and smooth action in the shots rather than a quick sharp action. Also try to have a think about how hard you grip the bat, ideally you need a fairly relaxed grip, so probably 4/10 in terms of how hard you are gripping, probably the power you have from weight lifting makes this more unnatural for you but its something you can change for sure, so think about a relaxed grip and not to tight.
By the way Loved the shot around 1 minute in the video where gou get your forehand block right across the angle!!
Some great points in there, I think lastly when you return short balls really trying to step in get closer to the ball will cut out mistakes on those returns. There’s lots of positives there I think with some focus on what I’ve mentioned you can definitely make more improvements.
Hope that helps and any questions let us know of course.
Cheers, Tom
