Hi Deep, I would say those phrases you mentioned can be a bit negative and you can definitely turn them into more positive and encouraging comments that help you avoid focusing on mistakes. So for example instead of come on more spin, you could say in you head to yourself don’t worry, next one. Especially if yo understand why you made the mistake just try to tell yourself that’s ok I can fix it next time and stay relaxed too that’s really key.
As for setting more performance based goals I know this isn’t easy as you of course want to win as many games as possible but if you think too much about results and win % then you can feel pressure and also the pressure of your team as you mentioned. I would suggest setting some goals based on areas of your game you want to improve, so for example lets say you were weak on playing topspin against backspin on your backhand, you would practice that area in your training and then set yourself a goal of using it maybe 3 times in your next match. Of course that’s just an example, it might be that you need the goal of being more aggressive or cutting out unforced errors. I hope that make sense, any questions let me know 🙂
