Hey Lem! Good couple of questions there, in terms of knowing when to change equipment I think once you’ve found something you are really confident with and like then there is no need to change again unless you reach a point where your technique has improved a lot and you feel you have got to a point where the equipment is holding you back in terms of capability to produce spin and speed.
Ok so I would say yeah the 09c is a great rubber and sounds like you’ve found the same, I would definitely stick with the Gionis or the Garaydia as they are both carbon and straight away you mentioned you like the feel of those. Also I think paired with the very high grip of the 09c I think you should have enough control. If you are confident and feel happy with either of those combinations I’d say that’s a very good long term set up and you certainly won’t be limited with it at all.
In terms of your form, overall it’s looking good, it’s noticeable as you said that you need to be sure to keep you bat angle closed all the way through the shot to produce consistently good shots. Also I would say that your timing point may be a touch late, so you are almost meeting the ball and contacting when it is level with you, if you can try to time it slightly more in front and early, this will mean it has dropped less and will be easier for you. Lastly I’d say just keep working on getting more snap and help from the elbow and forearm, think about straightening the elbow on the back swing and then snapping shut to bout 90 degrees at the end of the shot.
Hope that helps and any other questions on this, let me know 🙂
