Coach Cornerdignics-80-and-dignics-09c-rubbers

Hi Tom / Dan
My T.T. Robot finally arrived -Yeah!
I decided to use Dignics 09C on the backhand (red rubber) and Dignics 80 on the forehand (black rubber).  Due to limited space in the garage I found my sideways movement was restricted especially on the forehand side so I tended to stretch to reach the ball which reduced speed and power. However it gave me a good idea of how both rubbers worked together.
I could have used Dignics 09C on the forehand as it has a grippier top sheet giving more dwell time and control. With its higher arc it is ideal for counter spinning, aggressive pushing and topspinning back from the table as well as close to the net balls (with flick action). Slightly slower than Dignics 80, when played with positive action as with heavy topspin or smashes it almost as fast as Dignics 80.
However I decided that Dignics 80 was closer to the rubber I used to use, also, it had good grip and was more suited to my forehand action where I take a longer backswing and can generate more power. I am still experimenting with both rubbers and will only get a true evaluation when I play against an opponent but my first impressions are very positive.
I have attached a short video of my first trial with the robot.

Hey Alex,

It’s been great to you have the robot now, I’ve just had a look at the video link you sent. I can see you do have limited space but still great for practice and getting used to the rubbers as you say. We also recently gave a good testing to the dignics 09c and found it very good, really high grip and spin but still plenty of kick and speed too! I remember Tom preferred the Dignics 80 overall for his game but of course this is very personal, the 09c is great for counter spin shots once you get used to really closing the bat angle. Overall they arw fairly similar rubbers and I’m sure you could happily use either once you make adjustments and get used to them.

Like you said it will be good to play against some opponents to test it properly but it’s looking good and you seem confident in the video to hit with a fair amount of speed but keep control so lots of positive signs!

Cheers, Dan
