We love this drill because it’s simple but effective and brings in the elements of changing direction and tempo that happen regularly in matchplay without making things too complicated. This drill is also great because both players are active at the same time, meaning there is less chance for boredom compared to a drill where one player is simply playing a block from a static position. Again this is valuable because both the topspin player and the block player gain a lot from the drill and both need to focus fully throughout the drill and work well together.
