Thanks Tom. I think as get back into playing will fire more stuff. I think in relation to above I think same would apply to returning serves. I don’t always have to attack his serves when drifting long I can afford to push and wait for next ball knowing he won’t attack. I think I am just practising to be positive and attacking as it’s the style I want to play and it helps as against attacking good players it becomes more important to attack first and I think I’m practicing against my mate with that in mind.
While we on subject of playing against my mate I do struggle with one aspect of serve receives. He predominantly is old school he does backhand serves. He either does pure backspin or backspin side spin both serves drift long. Pure backspin I find very easy to just open up against straight away. It’s the backspin side spin one my return isn’t quite powerful I don’t know if I’m returning it differently just because it has bit of side spin also or bit passively I can’t quite put my finger on it! Any advice? It’s bizarre as both serves are very similar anyway.
