Answer for Technique Analysis

Yes it felt like we were locked out for a long time! It’s strange yeah, I’ll look into it on your account though.

Ok so I’ve had a chance to look through the videos you sent in. I think it’s always a little surprising when you see yourself play for sure. So firstly the backhand open up, you are using the wrist well to get a nice contact most of the time, it’s just making sure this energy gets released forwards and not across to the side. You can do this by using the elbow to hinge back towards to stomach and then push forward a little more. Also. If you can use your legs a bit more in this shot and keep your body weight lower and more forward I think you’ll find you can lift the backspin much easier and also get more quality on the shots. I means you’re in a stronger position to recover for the next ball too.

With your forehand open up, it’s similar areas to focus on to the backhand. Right now your movement and technique is pretty good but the shot is being generated by only the arm, if you can get your body rotation and weight transfer and also get lower in the legs this shot will improve a lot I feel. So I think try to focus on the shot broken down into two parts, the preparation and then the contact through the ball. Getting low in the legs and rotating backwards is the main focus for you here I’d say.

On the forehand loop, you look confident with this shot and you are adjusting your feet well between shots too. Nice acceleration through the ball and a goo brushing contact! I would again just try to get slightly lower with your weight leaning more forward. Overall I think this shot is strong and will only need small changes, once you get this you’ll probably feel you can get the same quality of shot with a slightly shorter swing.

For some reason the link to the backhand drives doesn’t work. But obviously I’ll be happy to give you some points on that if you can re post the link here. Hope that’s helpful!
