Answer for No speed and no spin

Hi Bave,

Yes I know this problem and lots of players we coach also find this. A lot of it comes down to timing and patience and also trying to focus on spin. When your opponent isn’t giving you anything the best thing is to try and play with more topspin but to do this you also have to slow yourself down and not rush into the shots as you mentioned.

A great way to do this is using a method myself and Dan like which is counting in your head and breaking the shot into 2 parts so the backswing and then the contact and follow through, and count in your head, one on the backswing, then a small pause and then 2 as you come through and contact. I hope that makes sense?

So slowing yourself down by pausing and taking your time, and then focusing on getting more spin on the ball which will give you more momentum against these dead, slow balls. Any questions on that let me know?

Cheers, Tom
