Answer for match-analysis

Hi Tom
As promised few matches from British league if you could analyse them and give feedback of what u think I did well and what I need to work on.

first match v Alex Shaw. In this match I lost 3-2 and I really struggled with his long bh serve to my bh I very often returned off the end. Now these long serves have historically given me problems longer topspin serves. Even at Nottingham sycamore last month I lost to a very good player but I mainly struggled with his long top side spin serve long to my bh and in that match just like this one I returned off the end.

next match below v Olivier. This player is much higher ranked than me but I don’t feel I was far off and I lost more on technical issues. From what I can see I’m not recovering fast enough after my own serve and I’m recovering too close to table. A lot of my game is serve and look for 3rd ball attack but what I can see is if I’m recovering too slow and too close to table I then am slightly off balance to play the most effective 3rd ball. Specifically when I playing a fh open up from bh corner I can see I’m too close and as a result I’m slightly off balance which makes my attack less potent, it also effects recovery and footwork for next shot often getting blocked wide fh. This match u could prob fast forward to 3rd end where I lost 18-16 but had at least 4 game points and couldn’t get over line!! One technical thing I noticed I struggled to block his bh open up and that was generic over wkend. One thing I can see is I’m dropping my bat at table level or lower. To block bat has to be high and then u block or counter down on the ball so I can see if I’m dropping my bat low that may be the reason I’m blocking out as I’m lifting my bat up from low position and that hinders covering spin. During practice drills I don’t have issue as I’m in blocking in that ready bat high position but in matches I’m clearly dropping the bat which explains why I’m struggling.

If you could analyse specially the last end I lost 18-16 after so many game points.

the other generic issue I seem to be having is playing some backhands at chest height which is too high and as a result playing a very passive shot and this seems more so after I open up where my top spin off there block kicks upwards. I think after my open up I’m staying in sane position but the ball returned will have higher tragectory due to my top spin and I think I’m not shuffling back enough after my open up.

if you could point out obvious mistakes where I lost that would be great.
