Answer for match-analysis

Hi Tom. Thank you for that I have noticed myself for quite a while that my pushing and touch game could be better but I have focussed more on open play and attack. I have along with your analysis identified following areas to work on:-
1. serve receives and be positive whether flick, open up or a good push.
2. Quick recovery after my serve and distance from table.
3. Recovery after every shot and keep bat high
4. footwork to wide fh as I lean and reach with bat rather than move feet first then play shot.
5. footwork in general light on my feet.

how would I structure training for what u have said?

serve receives I could have partner do various serves for me to react and play right shot but also do a specific serve so I can practice flicking/touch/push.

I think for my serve and 3rd I could continue to practice serving and focussing on recovery quickly and then 3rd ball if I can attack then go for it but if I can’t focus on making a good touch or push.

I think with recovery in general and bat high I think multiball will really help if someone can feed me.

with covering wide fh I could do numerous drills, falkenberg/ bh middle bh wide/ bh to bh then I’m randomly switch to my fh/ play fh from bh corner then switch wide so I have to cover wider area. I think all these could help my weakness on wide fh.

on footwork and being lighter I’m thinking starting ladder agility drills at home to get lighter on my feet which shouldn’t take long to get better as I did teakwondo at high competitive level for 20 yrs before injuries.

any advice of structuring training and any specific drills would be great Tom.

cheers buddy
