My other match was against Daniel fielding who’s a good player and I struggled with. My first match was infact against a player who has anti spin on bh and uses it effectively. Beat him 3-1 but the first couple ends kinda played to his strengths and found the whole slowness of the game threw me off rhythm. My team mate Adam jepson whom u guys know told me during that I’m trying to play too correct and serving too tight and short which is what he wants. He said do long serves and serve to his fh as he won’t attack straight away and it will open game up straight away. Won the last 2 ends comfortably with exception his getting numerous nets but that’s expected with anti spin users and I don’t let it get to me.
y problem and question is I think I am guilty trying to play too correct and keeping things tight due to training when in certain matches I don’t actually need to.
hypothetically if I play a player who doesn’t always attack serves then would it benefit me to serve slightly longer which guarantees me a longer return which I can 3rd ball easier. My style is serve and 3rd ball and also when receiving to attack most serves I very rarely push a return unless it’s a short touch, so against players that don’t always attack serves should I serve long? I seem to always get fixated on keeping serves short and tight that enables them to keep return tight or short also, whereas surely serving bit longer knowing they won’t attack will negate their return being short at least and I can prepare for third ball better.
I think the training and type of drills I do it’s easy to keep things too tight all the time which then unnecessarily I use in matches.
hope these questions make sense to u. Lol
also I think I may overthink things like the first question as a comfortable win is a win regardless so regardless of ta tics I should be happy I got the job done.
