Match Analysis
Hi Team,
Could you please analyse my match (technique&tactics)?
I’m aware that my opponent is above my level, but I also did a lot of unforced errors. Also, what drills should I focus on to take my game to the next level? FYI, I train 3 times per week (2 hrs each) and from time to time I hire a coach to fix my technique.
I usually train on a much higher level than I perform in matches. I must confess that I do not include matches as part of training. What’s a good way to bridge the gap between training and competitions?

Looking forward to your reply. Thanks heaps!!!
Hey Mohammed, Sorry for the delay. I had a good look at the match you sent in. I think for you there are a couple of things that will really help. I don’t think you played to bad in the match overall. When you got in the first attack and put him under pressure you did well, it was just sometimes if he managed to block your first ball well your recovery got you in trouble and it was hard to keep on the attack. So working on recovering after a strong shot and keeping a short technique and relaxed arm so you can keep going with your topspin shots.
I think playing matches in training will definitely help you as well because you start to see whats’s working well and what weaknesses you have and what you need to work on. I think you you doing lots of serve return drills as well because your shots look good it’s more about putting everything together well, so doing drills where you don’t know where the ball is going to help your movement, switching and anticipation.
The last thing I think for you that will be really helpful is to practice when the opponent gets in the first attack and you have to either try to counter topspin or if you don’t have time block it low and into a good position. It’s very important in the game now to be comfortable on the counter attack and in the passive game. Let me know if you have any questions on this!
Dan 🙂
Thank you so much Dan. Much appreciated!!
