Serve receive in generall
Hi i have a question so i am generally a Player that really IS trying to Attack all serves Always If possible with His Backhand but i have a question on very Low Serves of my opponent i really struggle Here to Play a good flick or Open Up topspin and also i See against stronger players If i Push First often they get the Initiative. So my question is do you have maybe a Suggestion how can i Open Up Low Long serves with backspin or No Spin. So what i am currently doing IS Just going Forward with a short Stroke and brushing thin. But i See sometimes i Lack confidence Here because the brush Is so thin that my Feeling tells me its likely going into the net so what Sometimes Happens on These serves i am going into Position to Attack These Low Long serves in the Last Moment my Feeling tells me the brushing contact IS to think and than at the end i Just Push IT and the really is basically over or i am in big Trouble because i am of Balance. And i Sometimes even think to banna flick These serves If they are very Low but i am unsure If its a good idea do you know maybe what i should do against this or how to practice this ?
Hey Gabriel, Yes I would say that if you really want to attack these type of low serves the only way is really with a banana flick. When the serve is very low or with a lot of backspin you need to aim to hit the ball on the side and brush forwards, this will help you get the lift to get the ball over the net without putting it too high. But it’s also fine to push or touch back these type or serves as long as you do it with good quality, so taking the touch early and keeping it low or when pushing making sure it’s fairly fast and deep in the table so it’s hard to play a strong attack.
