sponge-thickness long pimples
Hi coaches!
I was wondering what difference the sponge thickness on long pimple rubbers exactly changes. At the moment I’m playing with 0,5mm (Curl P1V), but a lot of people tell me that if I block actively/attack and/or chop, the thicker sponge should help with giving more backspin? I find it a bit confusing
Hey Casper! It is sometimes easier to get mire back spin with a thicker sponge as the ball soaks into it longer and then you get a bit more dwell time on the contact to create spin. I think the most important is finding what you personally like and feel comfortable with, because some people prefer less sponge and others thicker, it mainly comes down to testing it and seeing which works best for your style and the mix of attacking and defending you want to play. Hope that makes sense. Dan 🙂
Okay Makes sens!
I’m guessing the same will be true for which long pimples suits a more dynamic playing style? Right now playing with all kinds of different LP’s, and finding the right one is quite expensive this way
