Answer for Match review Modern Defense Intermediate

Hey Casper, to be fair it doesn’t look like you are doing too baldy in general.  I would say the main thing that will help your in the transitions and just match play overall is trying to get a bit lower in the legs and down with your body, a great way to see this position that modern defenders need to get is to watch some clips or matches of someone like Wang Yang or even better probably the best modern defender of all time Joo Sae Hyuk, there yo will see how low they get with the legs which really helps movement and speed in and out of the table and those transitions.

I also think that for this style decision making is really important, so for example when to attack when you need to drop back and what shot to play when. This will improve with more match play and coming up against different styles, but also just working on trying to get those nice low chops that players have to push and then trying to anticipate this push that you can then quickly get ready for a forehand attack and put them under pressure. Sometimes you managed to do this really well so I think with more work n that it can become a real strength. Hope that makes sense to you. Tom 🙂
