Hi bpena, to me this definitely sounds like a bat angle issue. Try to really close the angle of your bat and focus on feeling the ball and imagine it staying on the rubber longer. Also being relaxed is very important to get these shots correct, stay relaxed in the arm by not gripping the bat too tightly, this will also help with controlling the ball.
