Answer for Game Analysis

Hey Chris, yeah this can be frustrating after a good start but he will learn a lot from matches like this. I feel the main difference was getting in the first attack more often and then it happened less as the game went on. The serve and return areas and getting on top in the rally early on makes a big difference.

Also I think against left handers it always helps if you are very confident with your backhand and attacking with it because you can angle the ball out to their wide forehand which is often a weakness for them. I think if your son could have forced him out wide into his forehand a bit more this would have opened up the table and also forced mistakes as well.

Overall there wasn’t much in the game at all, maybe also just being able to control the opponents open soon and counter attack when they get in first is so important now, so maybe a bit or work in being able to counter attack a heavy topspin open up will really help!

Thanks, Dan
