Hi Sorin, this is great I’m surprised at how quickly you’ve been able to make some of these changes are having quite visible improvements already! I think going to a slower bat is definitely not a bad idea and you can always switch back to a faster bat when you feel you have the technical side of things stronger and you are totally comfortable with it all.
The biggest improvements I can see in these videos is in your forehand and the movement drills and your flick! The back swing on your forehand is better and you are finishing the shot more in front and forward, just be sure not to contact the ball too far away from you so it feels like you are pushing through the ball, imagine a triangle drawn in front of you from your hips and then meeting at a point at a comfortable distance, that should be your point of contact, but the technique looks better for sure.
On the movement drills you look much less rushed and more focused on the technique which is good, I think with all the shots the thing to do now is continue what you have been doing but really exaggerate being relaxed and smooth with the strokes, especially through the contact point, feel like you are letting the technique and the bat do the work.
Your forehand flick is loads better, I think if you keep working on that close bat angle and brushing forward over the top of the ball that ill continue to improve too. Just now try to stay low as you come in for the forehand flick and get your head and body close to the ball on contact that will make a big difference, make sure you stay low when you step out after the flick too. This is the same on the backhand flick too just keep focusing on releasing the wrist forward and having a quick brush through the ball on the backhand flick but looks good overall!
I think the backhand is looking better and your body position is for sure better now, I even think you can bring the right foot back slight more again. I do feel you can still be much more relaxed on the backhand and its still a bit jerky, try to feel the ball so imagine the bat smoothly rolling across the top of the ball and the ball staying longer on the rubber. I think with the technical changes this shot has a lot of potential, you aren’t far off getting this to be a shot where you can be nice and compact but develop a lot of spin, so worth keeping up the practice on the backhands for sure.
Lot’s of positives there though and you’ve been able to apply my advice really quickly which shows you can make big improvements with some guidance! Keep up the training and any specific questions on that or queries on anything I said you can comment back to me here. Cheers, Tom
