Answer for How to improve my short game (long and short push) with a multi ball robot

Hi Gabriel

That’s great that you have the robot to practice with whilst in lockdown. I’m not sure of the capabilities of the robot but it should definitely be possible to get some good quality short game practice.

Some drills I would suggest are:

1 short backspin, followed by 1 long topspin – this simulates the return and 4th ball.

Just short backspin – Focus on moving in and out rather than staying close to the net. Imagine the next ball is going to be long. Then you will be able to practice moving in and recovering out.

1 touch, 1 flick – This often happens in a game where you receive short and the server retouches. Getting a strong flick on this next ball is a good way to gain the advantage in the rest of the rally.

I hope this helps and you are able to do these with your robot. Let us know how it goes.
