Hi Roger, that’s definitely something on our agenda to make a video on. It can be very effective as you said when people are good at disguising it with a backspin serve too. There are a couple of ways to help you read the spin, the first is the initial bounce and just waiting to see if the ball kicks up (Kicker topspin serve) or skids and stays lower (Backspin). Another is the flight of the ball, generally the kicker serve will come through the table quicker and the backspin a bit slower, of course these things aren’t easy to pick up at speed but with practice even these subtle elements can help avoid mistakes!
Some top level players use these type of serves to great effect. Anyway we’re working on new content all the time and will be creating some more serve and return videos shortly.
