Answer for lower-back-pains-from-table-tennis

Hi Tom, I had a long term back injury when I was younger so understand what it’s like. It’s frustrating for sure, of course if it gets worse you may need to see a physio and get it looked into, but a good thing to do is work on strengthening the hamstrings and glutes with some exercises, this can help take some of the strain off the back. Sometimes in table tennis because we use the quads a lot to squat down low, the hamstrings aren’t as strong and there is an inbalance. Also even stretching out your hamstrings can help as well relieve some of the tension through the back. But take it easy and don’t over do it, you don’t want to make it worse if playing starts to increase pain more.

Hopefully it doesn’t and you can keep training.

Dan 🙂
