Answer for Match Analysis Review

Hey Deep! Yes I think your 100% right about your forehand in matches getting a bit too big, if you focus on really keeping the forehand almost all from the lower part of your arm and using the snap from the elbow this will help shorten it down and give you a lot more time to recover and keeping playing strong attacks. I think your serve and first attack was very good in this match and you gave him a lot of problems with the topspin on your forehand. One area where you can improve is getting in these topspin attacks more when you are returning serve. You want to try to get your forehand spin into play as much as possible, sometimes he was serving slightly long and you ended up pushing back, so just be always on your toes and looking for every chance you have to get your topspin into play. It’s the same with the backhand as well but to me your forehand is the main weapon to win points at the moment. I would say to improve your backhand in matches it’s basically what I said about the training clips as well, it’s so important to have short and relaxed technique on the backhand so you can play shots quickly and recover fast. Multi-ball is a great way to work on this, getting the coach to feed balls quickly o the backhand and you have to work on keeping up with the pace by having a short relaxed stroke. You can also start with a backspin ball which will help you work on this shot for your matches as well as I could see you have a bit less confidence with opening up against backspin on that side. Overall I think you used your strengths well in this match and played pretty well, there are a few things that I’ve mentioned that will help you improve even more for next time and when you come up agaisnt different players. Le tme know if you have any questions. Tom 🙂
