Hey Deep thanks very much, we’re looking forward to the first match! I think to be honest it’s not a bad thing at all that you managed to stop him playing his game even if you didn’t play exactly as you wanted. Sometimes to win a match you have to do that and find a way just to stop them playing their strengths, that’s actually what the top players do very well. I think as you play more matches and get used to different styles you will be able to bring in your own game better and try to use it more but it’s not a bad thing winning a match like that at all!
On the second question I think definitely it’s easy to over think during games and I’ve done it myself in the past as well. With the serving I think Adam your team mate is right, sometimes it’s better to serve long against those types of players and get into the rallies of they aren’t going to attack strong and put you under pressure. This make life easier for you and you don’t have to worry and focus on keeping it tight all the time, you can just think more about the rally and your placement and variations etc.
Of course it’s nice to play your normal serve and 3rd ball game but it’s even better to be able to change and adapt to each different opponent which will kale you much harder to beat! I hope that makes sense.
Dan 🙂
