Hi guys got follow up to the follow up above.
played Kettering prem last night and I lost 2 matches in 5th from 9-7 up with me serving. Not the first time it’s happened over the past year either in honesty. I’m not bottling it as I have won matches from 10-8 down etc… one last night I was 5-1 and 6-2 down in fifth to get myself into a 9-7 lead but I’m not sure what I’m doing at that 9-7 stage that I can’t just cross the line on certain ocassions. One thing I seem to note is I serve really short and a serve that can’t be easily attacked but obviously the return could also be short which prevents me from getting a good attack in which is what happened yday.
during course of match I tried tomahawk from fh side which I have been trying out and it worked, I also did the fast serve to wide bh and then got a strong attack in from a weak return but it seems that at the 9-7 up I forgot about the serve that I tried and troubled him with in earlier ends. There were instances where I did slightly longer jab topspin serve that he spun off the end also.
now I don’t know how to take that brave choice when I’m like 9-7 up. My mindset seems to b to serve too tight and short to keep opponent out rather than serve what worked as a surprise earlier. How can I try and remind myself at crucial moments what he really struggled with, I seem to b afraid to serve long in those moments whereas he’s the one under pressure not me so I don’t need to b afraid of doing slightly longer serves as under pressure he can make mistake just like earlier in match.
it’s very frustrating and annoying lol
