Answer for New blade advice

Hi Bave, Thanks! It’s great to be back and making new videos, we’re glad you are enjoying them. From everything you’ve said there and mostly importantly taking into account what you said about your style, it actually sounds very similar to my own game style. I’d say you don’t need or want a “super fast” carbon blade but more like a blade which offers control but still the capabilities to produce enough speed for your attacks.

There are a few blades which I think fit into this category and that I’ve tested, the butterfly Harimoto alc blade is very nice, amazing feel and control for blocking but it can also up the speed when playing with more power. Next is the Stiga dynasty carbon, this is a slightly more stiff and wood feel blade but again has good speed but not uncontrollable. I actually use and all wood blade as I like the feel those offer, of course that’s a personal thing as with all equipment but I can list here anyway and you can decide if you want to try them. I use the stiga hybrid wood blade but not sure how easy they are to get hold of now , but I love this blade and have used it for about 10 years! The Andro gauzy sl blade is very nice, all wood and similar to the hybrid wood and surprisingly quick for an non carbon blade. I also think most innerforce type blades would suit you well, like the Apolonia or an innerforce alc.

What I would say about changing your blade is that the blade makes a much bigger difference to the overall feel of your bat compared to changing rubbers, so it will feel strange for a while when testing new blades and you need to give each one a fair amount of playing time. When you get a new blade they are very stiff, they will soften with more playing time and you will make the adjustments coming from your old blade.

So just stick with each one your testing for at least a few weeks ideally, this will give you a really good idea of the feeling etc. Anyway I hope that’s helpful, of course anything else or questions on the blades I’ve listed just get back to me here.

Best regards, Tom
