Answer for serve-analysis

Hi Dean!
Thanks for sending us in this footage of your serves, I’ve just had a close look at them all now. Don’t worry about the table, it’s pretty cool that you have any table to do serve practice on at work I think!
Firstly I think you are a little hard on yourself saying your not impressed by what you see, your serves aren’t bad at all. You have a good grip and are definitely generating some good spin. With some work you can definitely make improvements and get some really nice serves.

So a few points that will help:
You seem to be quite tense in the body and arm movement while serving, you’ll find it easier to generate spin if you can be more relaxed abd loose in your arm and body, this helps you to get a finer/softer touch on the ball and also more acceleration into the ball with the lower arm and wrist.

Also where you contact the ball is sometimes a little high, this means the ball tends to be higher over the net and goes long more easily. If you can focus on a lower contact point it will give you tighter and shorter serves.
I really liked your long fast serve you kept the start position the same as the others so it looks the same and the depth on the table seems great!
I would also not worry about getting the ball short when you serve. I think work on accerlating fast with your wrist to get more snap and bite into tbe ball. Being cautious will keep your serve tight which is good but adding more accerlation will make all the difference.

On your reverse serve try to add more follow through this will help you have more bat speed as you contact the ball.
Keep up the great serve practice you’re doing really well!
