Answer for Tips on practicing with robot

Hey Marcos, great to have you here on the Academy! It’s so helpful filming yourself so that’s a great start and also we have loads of exercise drills for you to get ideas from and try out here on the website. So that will give you some ideas going forward.

I would say a lot of the drills you are doing here are great, early on it’s most important to get the basic shots and movements correct which you are doing with your regular drills here. So I would keep going with the things you are practicing here and just work on being relaxed in your shots and trying to loosen your upper body a bit, this will help you accelerate through the ball and get more spin.

I think all the things you are doing here are helpful so there’s nothing I would say not to worry about to be fair. Tips for improving the drills themselves I would say just build up the speed gradually so you are improving your speed and try to keep the consistency. I’m not sure if you are doing serve training but that’s something to definitely add if not because it’s probably one of the most important aspects of the game and something you can train alone and will help you get points in games.

I think with the structured drills you are doing here on the robot combined with the club training where you said you will normally do a couple of drills and them games will be a nice balance, so you can use the games at the club sessions to bring in and work on the areas you train in your robot drills in match situations. This is very important because match play everything is harder and more random that robot play of course, so it will help you improve anticipation and switching between the shots you have worked on.

Hope this is helpful, let me know if you have any other questions on this. Dan 🙂
