Answer for Topspin vs backspin

Yeah you’ll find a big difference when you adjust that and give yourself more time between each shot. You aren’t really trying to brush the top of the ball against backspin, it’s still more on the back of the ball the contact, but more of a forwards brush rather than upwards if that makes sense. The bat angle should still be about 45 degrees, there isn’t that much of a big difference between topspin and backspin really. Playing against topspin I’d say the bat angle should be slightly more closed than 45 degrees to brush over the top of the ball. Against backspin it is slightly more open with a focus on brushing forwards but more on the back of the ball. Players often over exagarate the differences between the too shots.

Of course you need to adjust more so for a heavy backspin by brushing upwards slightly more with a good acceleration as you would if it is a heavy topspin you would need to brush over the top more with a closed angle 🙂
