Hi Deep, yes it will definitely take a while to get things going again and be totally back to normal. Absolutely, stick to basic simple regular drills and some fun matches for a while. Just focus on getting back your movement and timing and loosen up the body to gradually get back into things.
A drill to improve the distance and shuffle back away from the table is just to simply practice the serve followed by 3rd and 5th ball. Focus on the recovery between each shots and staying compact so you don’t get caught out too close to the table like you mentioned. Also try to get a little step slightly away after serving to create the space 🙂
