Answer for where-to-start-the-bat-when-preparing-for-a-forehand-many-show-it-very-very-low

Hey, I would definitely say it’s important not to drop the bat too low. This can cause you to life the ball off the end of the table and also makes it harder to hit strong topspin shots as you aren’t able to close the bat over the ball enough. As you said it does depend on the shots coming at you slightly,but really the only time tou should drop the bat lower is when playing against a backspin ball. For playing against topspin i wouldn’t drop the bat much below waist height for sure. This makes ot easier to brush over the top of the ball with a closed angle to create spin. Its will also feel safer as if you drop the bat lower it can feel easy to over hit and play the ball too long. For attacking stronger I think you’ll find it much easier if you try to keeo the bat relatively high and brush through and over the ball.
