Blocking and controlling the opponents attacking shots is still as vital today as it was when Waldner was at his peak. This video focuses on not only controlling incoming speed more effectively but also how to add more variation to your blocking game which will in turn make you a more well rounded and unpredictable player. JO demonstrates the blocking technique which he used to great effect to displace opponents and force them out of position as well as how he changed the block to break up the rhythm of the game. In this video we also discuss with Waldner the placement of blocks and what to look out for in the opponent’s positioning to take full advantage of a good block. This video also includes Waldner speaking about the backhand punch which is something that he transitioned to very effectively from the blocking game.
