Coach CornerMatch playcrossover
Hamza Caratela asked 10 months ago

Hi Dan and Tom, how can I return shots that are at my crossover. The ball comes quite fast to my crossover position and I know I have to move, but I don’t find time to move and play a decent shot. What can I do in this case. Thanks

Hey Hamza, yes these are always tricky shots to get out the way of. Of course you want to try to move out of the way and into position quickly for your shot but this isn’t always possible when it’s fast. I would say try shifting your right foot back quickly to create a bit of space if you want to try to play a forehand, assuming you are right handed.

Sometimes it can actually be quicker and easier to play a backhand from the crossover, for this you need to try to get your body weight behind the ball as much as you can and lean your weight over into your right foot so you can then push back into position.
