Coach CornerEquipmentDignics 09C rubber-assessment
Nomad asked 4 years ago

Hi Dan/Tom
Some time ago you asked for feedback on the new Dignics 09C rubber. Using a robot I prepared a first initial asessment along with Dignics 80 for comparison. As Dignics 90C has a tacky top sheet with a springy sponge underneath there will be a difference in speed assesment off the bat if a stroke is not played positively enough to reach the spongy layer. This can be beneficial in the short game where the balll can be kept low in push strokes but with enough grip from the tacky top sheet to open up with topspin from a backhand or forehand flick.
Comparison out of 10 (personal asessment only)
Dignics 80  Flat smash 9          09C   8.5        (Dignics 09C flat smash with less force  7)
Dignics 80 spin  8.5              09C spin 9.5
Dignics 80 short game control    8.5                  Dignics 90C short game control  9.5
Dignics 80  Blocking  8.5      09C  Blocking 9
Dignics 80  Counter topspin 8.5                          09C  9.5  *   (played  positively)
When playing topspin with 09C the angle of the bat should be lowered to compensate for the higher arc generated with the greater grip of this rubber)
Hope this is helpful.

Hi Alex, I definitely agree with the push shots and also having to close the bat angle to compensate for the higher arc on the 09c rubber. Myself and Dan also found this when we tested it against the well known Hurricane 3 rubber in our recent review. I hope you are getting on well with the rubbers and managing to get in some practice!
