Grip change when playing backhand shots topspin shots

Hey Guys,

Should one change the backhand grip for topspin shots to get a more “flicky” feeling?

For example some people move their index finger up a little for backhand topspin shots or some cock their wrist.

What do you guys do? Same grip as forehand or change it? And what do you recommend to others?

Thanks
Sid

Hey Sid,

Both myself and Dan do change our grip slightly for backhand Strines as do most players. The key is trying to not make it a big change which wastes time or causes difficulties switching between backhand and forehand. I would say the important thing is to play how you feel comfortable, of course in a way which doesn’t restrict you.

I feel a small change is ok if you can do it efficiently and quickly.

Thanks Tom.
I please request you guys to make a video to show the change you guys make and the general advice in a video when the lockdown gets over and you guys get back to the studio.
Kind Regards
Sid
