Hi Dan
I had a look at your review video on Dignics 05 and found it impressive (till I looked at the price). However as I will be playing more regularly after the lockdown it is certainly a good option. What I liked especially was the control and spin the rubber seems to generate yet it has still a good deal of speed coming off the bat from a closed angle which I think would suit my topspin attacking game off either the backhand or forehand (I would probably benefit more from this rubber on the backhand)
I also had a look at the new Dignics 09 tacky rubber which is now used by Timo Bol. Unfortunately due to the lockdown you were unable to demonstrate that in your video. I would be interested to get your view on this rubber when you are eventually able to resume your action reviews.
As soon as I am able to get back to the table tennis club I will send a video of my style of game for your opinion on which you think would be the better option..05 or 09 on a carbon blade or even continue with the hurricane 2?
Thanks again for your advice.

Hi Alex, Glad you enjoyed the review of the dignics 05, yes unfortunately with lockdown we haven’t been able to film a full dignics 09c review but it’s also a very good rubber for sure. As you said they aren’t cheap but the durability of them seems to be pretty good and will last a while. It would be great to see a video so and have a look closer at your game style when you get a chance after lockdown. If you are using hurricane now it might even be your best option to go to 09c as that has a more tacky top sheet which is closer to hurricane so the change wouldn’t be so much. Of course 09c would have more spring and bounce so you’d have to get used to that but with training you would do. When we get back to normal we’ll be happy to have a look at a video of you and have a better idea of what to recommend for you.

Hi Dan,

I’ve been talking Tom about using Hurricane 3 as a training tool. I recently went back to Dignics 05 but miss that “feel” of The Hurricane. Would you say the 09 has a similar feel of the Hurricane while giving me the speed of Dignics 05?

Hi Lem, yes I think the new dignics 09c is almost like a combination of both, it’s got a grippy top sheet like hurricane maybe not quite as sticky but more than the dignics 05. But it still has more speed and spring than hurricane so it’s not as hard and slow, I think it will be a very popular rubber.

Hey,
Just saw your YouTube review. What thickness did you use for your review?

Thanks and stay safe,
Lem

Hi Dan
I am really looking forward to getting back to the club to prepare a video.  One of the club members would be using my mobile to video my game style which I would transfer to the computer and then put on u-tube with a link (or links). I don’t use chopping very often but it could be useful for recovery if the rubber was suited.
I thought that the best way to get an idea of my style of play so you can advise on what you think would be the most appropriate rubber(s) would be some, or all, of the following:

  1.  30, 60, 90 speeds on both backhand and forehand followed with a full drive from a slower return.

     2.   Returning topspin by blocking or counter topspin further back from the table.
     3.   Aggressive pushes and backspin chops.
     4.   Showing a variety of services
     5.   Backhand and forehand flick action
I would be using Hurricane 2 on the forehand and Evolution ELP on the backhand for the video.
I value your advice on this. If there is anything else think might be useful in determining the type of rubber best suited to these strokes just let me know and I will try to include them.  As you may appreciate, there may be more than one short video!
Thanks again for your time.
Regards
Alex

Hi ALex, Sorry I must have missed this reply a couple of days back! The areas you mentioned above all sounds great for us to have a look at and give you some feedback, I don’t think we’d need anything else to start with and sending in a few videos to us so we can analyse is absolutely fine!

Regards, Dan
