Coach CornerEquipmenttibhar-evolution-mx-p-whats-the-story

I’m quite happy with my current setup, but because I’m relatively new to the sport and my club sells mostly Butterfly equipment I really haven’t been exposed to other manufacturers. I’ve  decided to occasionally  take a look at what else is out there. I stumbled on to an older review you guys did on the Tibhar Evolution series of rubbers and decided to give Evolution MX-P look. I ordered it and placed it on a Timo Boll All Around Blade. What a nightmare. Never have I felt so humbled in my short table tennis history. If tried to put top spin on the ball it would quickly go into the net, if I opened my bat off the table it would go. The only way I managed to get the ball on the table was by bringing my bat from way low to high and catching the ball more towards its back. There was an incredible amount of speed on the ball but there is no way I would ever be able to play with such a rubber, at least not at my current level. Can you give me some insights on the Tibhar Evolution series. I’m curious.
The next rubber I’m going to try is Yinhes Big Dipper, a much more affordable “mistake” and from what I understand an alternative to Hurricane 3.
p.s. I took out a player ranked 400 points higher yesterday in 5 games in a best of seven. Maybe he was shaking off the Covid rust, but I’m chalking it up to just spinning the ball, actually thinking about placement and just a bit more confidence. Maybe 2020 will be a brighter year for me than expected.
Thanks in advance and stay safe

Hey Lem, the evolution rubbers I geel are very quick for sure but personally I think they do lack a little control and even sometimes grip. Also of course depending on what equipment you are used to etc.

Yes the big dipper is certainly quite similar to hurricane I’d say too. A lot more grip and lots more control than evolution.

That’s great to hear thay you beat they guy 400 points above yoh and I’m sure 2020 and onwards will bring more improvement!
