contact-point-on-serves
Hi Dan and Tom, I notice on the long, fast serve your contact point is the back hip. Is that generally the optimum contact point for most serves? It seems I hit most spin serves in the middle of the hips or near the front hip. Do you try to have a uniform contact on most of your serves? Thanks.
Hey Slicepong,
That’s a very good question. Ideally yes you want to have a uniform contact to make your serves deceptive. The back-swing is key to long fast serves so coming from your right hip as a right hander is important to get the correct momentum and speed. The contact point is out in front of your body. So when you toss the ball into the air you want to keep it out in front of you, the contact point may vary from time to time but ideally in front. Are you able to send us a video of yourself doing the long fast serve, it will be a great way for us to provide feedback on your contact point.
Thanks Slicepong,
Dan
