Coach CornerMoving to the backhand
Gabriel Kozakevych asked 2 weeks ago

Hi i have a question about my Backhand the think Is i am a Backhand dominant Player but what i do Sometimes notice is that If the ball IS coming in fast Not exactly where my Racket IS now alligned with the ball. I do notice that i somehow to late with my Backhand and i dont understand why because with my forhand this dont Happen even from middle balls to the Transition for forhand balls i am Always there. So on this Situation what would you suggest should i maybe than try to Play my Backhand more from the right Side of my Body and it would not hurt my consitency If possible or really If the ball comes to the middle or slightly to the right i should Play in a forhand Topspin ?

Hey Gabriel, ok it sounds like you need to practice lots of drills where you need to choose to either play a forehand from the middle area or a backhand and improve this switching. It will be different each time and in different situations, so playing a lot of drills that work on this will help make those decisions quicker and easier. Just getting your practice partner to block to the middle 3rd of the table and you topspin into their backhand is a great effective drill to focus on this area of the game. Dan 🙂

Yes so for me its Just important to know even If i am Backhand dominant exact from the middle If i have time to Play the forhand topspin i should generally Always do that Is this Something Backhand dominant Players mostly do in the middle or Backhand dominant Player in the middle even If they have time in the middle they Always use Backhand because i thought even If i am a Backhand dominant Player its better from the middle to use forhand If i have time because its more Powerful and also playing from the middle with my Backhand Mostly Not results in a Powerful shot so you know what generally Most Backhand dominant Player choose one slow Balls or on slow spinny topspins into the middle to Play a counter topspin. Timo Boll also Made a video on YouTube where He Told you should prefer forhand If you have time but Here i am Just unsure for more slow balls and slow spinny topspins i still think that i should prefer forhand into the Crossover Point even as a Backhand dominant Player am i right ?
