Coach CornerTraining to improve in table tennis
Gabriel Kozakevych asked 6 days ago

Hi i have a question generally so right now the conditions in my Training are that we are playing a Lot of Training Matches in Our Club. And i ask my self that generally to get the best Player i can be its important to be able to Attack every serve with good Quality i mean i personally think in Training Matches if i Just try to Flip and Attack every serve that this will improve very much that i will Not hesitate to Attack Low Serves in Matches or generally that i Push because i feel the serve IS likely to spinny. So i think Just Attacking every serve as default and only Push for variety Not really Because this certain serve is right now Not attackable for me. I think even If i will Now lose more Matches this way because i will make more mistakes i think this Is still the best way to improve my serve receive to a Lot because its Always better to Attack a serve immediately than to Push IT and i Thing personally that If i Attack immediately every serve of my opponent this Is really the end Goal that i think i should have. And personally i think this Is the only way to improve more Just by staying to yourself in Training Matches i am now attacking every serve No Matter what and this will really improve that i will Not hesitate in Matches and improve also serve Attack under Match conditions so i think personally over time this will let me improve much more than iregular Drills. Iregular Drills i think are more made to Seperate 1 Thing and to practice IT seperatly but i think not really to improve hesitation in Matches and also practical use of the Skill It self of it in Matches. So i personally Thing Just by saying to my self i will Now Attack every serve of my opponent in training Matches now Matter what that this should be my Goal in generall and by practicing It in Matches i will also faster come to the result. The Same also for counter topspin If i am good in position no matter what just counter topspin i mean this way i improve much faster my celling ?

Hey Gabriel, Yes i do agree that sometimes you have to just keep on focusing on doing the right thin even if you do make more mistakes, in the long term this will help you as you are more positive and always working on developing your attacking strokes and putting the opponent under pressure. This is good for both the flicks and counter attacks like you mentioned, the only thing to make sure is that you a reviewing your shots to make sure you are playing them correctly and not building bad habits. A great way is to video your training and matches so you can watch it back afterwards and keep improving the technique. Dan 🙂
