Coach CornerTechniquesbackhand-grip-compared-with-forehand-grip
Carlos Calvo asked 8 months ago

Hello,
I have a question regarding to the grip in the backhand drive. Is it the same as the one used for the forehand drive?
While I am practicing both shots one atfer another I feel that I have to release the grip and rotate a little bit the bat in order to make the shot properly. Is it ok? Am I doing something wrong?
Thank you very much for this academy. It is helping me a lot to improve my technique.

Hey Carlos, we’re very happy to hear the Academy is helping you and you are enjoying it! So the grip is roughly the same for backhand and forehand drive however a lot of players do end up making this small rotation when switching between the 2 shots. this is common and is fine as long as it’s not a big adjustment which could waste time or slow you down between shots. So as long as you feel comfortable and can make the switch without wasting time and still play your shots normally this isn’t a problem. Of course just try to minimize this switching and make the change a small as possible which will help you be quick between shots. Cheers, Tom 🙂
