counter-topspin-on-backhand-side
Hi i have a Problem often when IT comes down in decision making in the backhand Side how i should counter topspins of my opponent. So generally i See as i already sad that If i Block its often to weak against strong opponents but also i See the backhand Punch seems also to be Not this effective on the backhand Side i mean If my opponent even Spin medium height even If i Punch hard they seem to get the ball Back and i dont know I feel Like that punches are Not so effective than trying to counter topspin If it the ball Pops Up Higher on the backhand Side with Spin am i right Here or i missunderstand Something i mean Here in generall what IS more effective. And also generally on the backhand Side If my opponent Plays a fast topspin in there Is IT generally very important for me to learn to react quick and make a quick Backhand counter topspin for max effeciency If its possible or AS my opponent Plays in a fast topspin even If it would be Potentialy possible to Play a quick Backhand counter topspin and this way to react fast i still should Not do it for max effeciency. Because i think personally If i force my self to Play a quick counter topspin with the backhand when ever its Potentially possible that this way i will over time improve the Most. So i mean i think i should Always counter topspin If possible and really never try to Block only when i feel its completly Impossible. So i mean Just really to counter topspin when ever its Potentially possible i think IS the best approach because even on fast topspins of my opponent If its Potentially possible to Play a quick counter topspin i think i should Always do that on the backhand Side and the Same on slow spinny ball Just waiting longer and than Play a counter Backhand topspin do you agree with me ?
Hi Gabriel, I think yes it’s always bets to try to play a short counter topspin shot and just block when you are really forced into it by a very strong shot from your opponent. Of course with these backhand counter topspin shots you will need to adjust, sometimes if the player plays very strong you only have time for a very short and more passive counter but if their open up is slower or shorter in the table you will have time for a more aggressive counter attack.
