Coach CornerDifficulty in serving short
Sweetiele asked 6 years ago

Hi Dan and Tom! I am finding it a bit of a problem to serve short serves that bounce at least twice on opponent’s side of the table on new fast tables. Most of my serves are drifting long. By letting my serves drift long I am losing an upper hand in the point. What are some of the ways that I can keep the serves short? tables that I am playing on are quite slick and fast with higher than normal bounce and > 25 mm top board. Is it a good idea to serve from very close to the table?

Thanks for the reply! I think the answer pretty much answers everything for me.

One problem that I have when I serve backspin with a flat bat angle is that I tend to hit a lot of edges. But this may be due to some other mistake like not seeing the ball properly. What do you think?
