Dignics 09C – a short clip
Hi Tom/Dan
You asked some time ago if anyone had tried out the Dignics 09C rubber to let you know.
So much has been said about this new rubber that I couldn’t resist the temptation and bought a sheet. (my birthday money for the next 3 years!) With lockdown still in force up here, and only a table in the garage to practice with (no opponent) I attempted to discover some of the properties of this rubber by using the back wall (which was about 2 and a half feet behind the end of the table) to bounce the ball off (I am still waiting for my T.T robot due next week) I know this is nowhere near a conclusive test which can only be done in a competitive match situation but I thought you would like you know my first impressions about the rubber.
There is a slightly longer ‘dwell time’ on the bat than the Tenergy rubber I use on the forehand which enabled me to better control in direction and spin. Aggressive pushes and balls dropping low and short over the net were also easier to control. However, because of the tackiness of the rubber I noticed a slight reduction in speed with a full blooded flat smash on the forehand. Having said that when I did go for an all out fast hit, the ball bounced on the other side of the table, hit the opposite wall. and bounced back (with a large arc) back to beyond my side of the table.
What impressed me most however, was the spin I could get using 09 on the backhand drive. I have posted a video link of a heavy topspin ball (see link below) to give an idea of the trajectory and speed which I can achieve using this rubber.
As I said, this is not a definitive test and I haven’t mentioned anything about return of services (as I have no opponent) but I would think this rubber could suit my style of all round attacking game on both forehand and backhand once I got used to it.
Hope this is helpful.

Hi Alex, yes Dignics 09c will be a popular rubber for many players I’m sure. We’ll be creating a full review on it as soon as it’s possible. It’s got very high grip and as you mentioned helps you get a lot of spin on drives and topspin shots. Of course its slower than tenergy because of the tackier top sheet but this adds control and sometimes people can find tenergy hard to control when under pressure.
I’m sure you’ll find its suited to your game tbe more you gwt used to it,especially from what youve said here. I can’t view the video you posted unfortunately ,my guess would be its listed as private and not unlisted so i can’t view it. Glad you have found the rubber is working well for you though!
