Coach CornerServe and Receivedisguise-during-initial-development-of-a-serve

Hi, I’m working on developing the reverse pendulum serve right now. I saw your most recent video about it, which was very helpful. I’m wondering if I should be trying to include a disguise motion (try to make it look similar to pendulum) or just work on the basic serve motion and consider a disguise motion later down the road. And for serve development in general. It’s much easier if I don’t try to disguise it, but will it be very hard to change later on?

Hi Tryhard,

I think the best way is to really master the action and be confident with the serve then later when you are more comfortable and confident start to think about disguise. Sometimes with a very effective serve you don’t need loads of disguise for it to work well, it also won’t be too hard once you’ve really mastered the serve to make the spin more hidden anyway.

So keep working away at the serve, spend time getting really used to the contact and timing etc and then worry about disguise later 🙂
