f-h-rubbers-you-guys-using-for-fast-topspin-drive-vs-spinny-loops-same-or-diff
Hi guys, enjoying your videos greatly. Been away from TT for over 30 years and used to play at county level. At my gentle age of 73 now, I am returning to the game I loved so much and with the help of robot starting to ‘remember’ how to generate speed and the spin but having problem with working out complitelly new rubber/sponge technology. Worked out that the ‘catapult’ soft spunge like proton neo 325 is perfect for blocking and hitting but not good for fast topspin drives or generating spinny loops of heavy backspin. I found that rhyzer 48 is really great for fast f/h drives and spinny loops. I used to be Mark V guy, but Rhyzer makes Mark V almost anti-spin rubber. Is there concensus there about using soft ‘catapult’ type rubbers like proton-Neo for hitting/blocking/pushing b/h and hard spunge rubbers like Rhyzer for fast/spinny f/h players? I also found in my past, that the black rubbers, which seems to ‘stick’ to the ball, never play the same as red rubbers which always feel much more responsive to speed. With kind regards, Darko
Hey Darko, glad you are enjoying the videos and welcome back to table tennis! Rubbers and equipment are always quite personal to everyone, as in everyone likes different things, either harder or softer sponge etc. Harder sponge rubbers are usually easier to play fast aggressive shots as you said and the attacking game. Usually there is not a big difference now a days between red and black rubbers to be fair but I know in the past sometimes there has been.
There’s definitely no harm in having two different rubbers for backhand and forehand if thats how you feel most comfortable. The softer rubber feeling on your backhand is probably how you feel you have the best control. But all down to personal choice and feel really 🙂
